Biography
Alasdair Campbell Furniture was established in 2010, born from a lifelong fascination with design, materials and the process of making things by hand.
Alasdair’s journey began with a BEng degree in Product Design Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in 1998. He went on to study at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 2006, before spending three years learning the craft of furniture making through an apprenticeship with an established workshop in Edinburgh.
That combination of design, engineering and hands-on making continues to shape Alasdair’s work today. He enjoys the challenge of creating furniture that is not only beautiful to look at, but also practical, comfortable and made to last.
Every piece is thoughtfully designed and carefully made, with a real appreciation for the natural qualities of timber. Wherever possible, Alasdair uses locally sourced wood, allowing the character, grain and warmth of each individual piece of timber to become part of the finished furniture.
For Alasdair, good furniture is about more than simply making an object. It is about creating something with character and purpose — a piece that feels at home in its surroundings, is a pleasure to use, and can be enjoyed for many years to come.
