Quality crafting and skills sharing in Lochaber
Biography
The Workshop is a woodworking and furniture making social enterprise operating in support of local charity Lochaber Hope, which creates all manner of bespoke indoor and outdoor furniture items, one-off items, and a customisable core range, which provides sustainable income that helps Lochaber Hope to continue to offer its wide range of mental health support projects, programmes and groups.
Cameron has over 15 years of experience with a background in residential and commercial construction, high-end bench joinery and workshop management in the third sector. If you've recently been to either the Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe, or the Whispering Pines Lodge north of Spean Bridge (formerly Letterfinlay Hotel), then you'll have seen Cameron's work. Among other things, he built the bar at the Way Inn Cafe at the Kingshouse, and the Burns Bar and reception desk at the Whispering Pines Lodge.
Through The Workshop, Cameron looks to share his skills and experience with the community not only by producing high quality bespoke furniture, but also by providing classes and lessons in woodworking, DIY & furniture making & design, as well as volunteering opportunities for those looking to learn and make, while promoting positive mental health in an inclusive environment that welcomes all. While the pandemic has made this difficult, The Workshop looks forward to opening itself back up as a place to build soon.
