Thirty of Scotland’s leading furniture makers will exhibit their work at Dalkeith Palace this summer. From Friday 5th to Sunday 7th June 2026, a unique selection of furniture, sculpture and woodworks will be on show in the historic setting. All pieces will be available to buy, giving visitors the chance to own high quality work designed and made in Scotland.

The Scottish Furniture Makers Association was set up in the early 2000s, and 25 years on it continues to champion the country’s designer makers. The annual show is the country’s only dedicated craft furniture exhibition, bringing together established and emerging makers from around the country.

The free exhibition is returning to Dalkeith Palace for the third time, having enjoyed growing interest from hundreds of visitors in recent years. There will be a wide range of works on display, from tables and chairs to cabinets, desks and lighting. Each of the makers has their own distinct style, with pieces to suit every home and interior.

One of the main attractions of the show is the chance to meet the makers and find out more about how the pieces were designed and created. A selection of exhibitors will be on hand each day to talk about their inspiration, their design process, and the materials and techniques they use. For visitors looking for a particular item for their home, this is also an opportunity to discuss commissioning bespoke work.

Stephen Finch, Scottish Furniture Makers Association Chair, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating 25 years and remain committed to showcasing the creativity, skill and passion our members have for their craft.

"Some of the makers taking part this year in our flagship event are recent graduates while others have been involved with the association since the very early days.

“The annual show is an opportunity to come together as part of a creative community and show people the quality and diversity of furniture being made in workshops around Scotland."

Members of the Scottish Furniture Makers Association work on a diverse range of projects and commissions, including small products and bespoke pieces for the home, limited batch production and large-scale commissions for public and commercial spaces.

Charlotte Rostek, Dalkeith Palace Development Lead, said "I am thrilled that the Scottish Furniture Makers’ Association will bring their prestigious national showcase to Dalkeith Palace for the third time in 2026.

“The show has seen an increase in visitor numbers each year with people loving the opportunity to see such an impressive range and quality of contemporary furniture making in Scotland.

The Buccleuch Living Heritage Trust is leading on the gradual reinvention of the palace as a place for culture, community and creativity in the 21st century and exhibitions such as this are part of this exciting new chapter on our journey.”
